On November 28th, 2023, Griffith experienced an unimaginable loss when his grandfather, Jim Griffith, unexpectedly passed away from a stroke. Jim and Lance were inseparable, with Lance accompanying him across the Southeast, selling tires from birth. For Griffith, Jim was more than a grandfather—he was the father figure he never had growing up. Losing him was one of the hardest challenges Griffith had ever faced.

At Jim Griffith's funeral, Griffith was visibly emotional. Losing not only his grandfather but the father he never had was something Lance never imagined would happen so soon.
As an Army veteran, Jim was given full military honors, a tribute to the life he lived. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Griffith was presented with the flag that had laid atop his grandfather’s casket.
